Good time of day, humans!
While the money mostly went straight to well-connected folks, bypassing the government coffers, it can still be viewed as a tax. Also, air is quite a convenient object of taxation because of low demand elasticity (it’s not like anyone would start breathing less).
Smug, servile compliance (Covidianism) is another form of tax. I'd like to see much less of it but I won't be, uh, holding my breath...
The carbon tax is just that.
I’ve said for years that they’ve taxed everything from birth to death and the moment they start taxing the air we breathe, we’re in deep trouble. Everyone laughed at me. Now it’s FAFO time.
