Human: — How’s a human supposed to shop these days?
Rat: — As locally as possible?
While boycotts can occasionally work, it requires really massive participation. Most of them don’t achieve anything more than keeping activists busy.
But «boycott bans» are a sillier idea yet. One can’t really prohibit people from looking at the labels and putting items back on the shelves; they can try to prohibit people from talking about boycotts, but that’s a non-starter for obvious reasons.
As for living more local to stay out of all this… Stone Bryson has some suggestions:
