In which Cousin wants to do something

Transcript:
Cousin: — We need to stop lending money to the government, it just had its credit rating lowered!
Rat: — Cousin, we aren’t lending any money to the government.
Cousin: — How could we lend even less, just to be safe?
Usually, «do-something bias» infects high-level bureaucrats, who tend to perform meaningless activities so that, should something bad happen, they would have an excuse of «we did what we could». But perhaps no one is immune to it; or maybe we should find that bad person who prints rat-sized newspapers to scare poor rodents. ;)
As for the credit rating, Moody’s is in fact the last of the big three to lower U.S. credit rating. The first was S&P in the distant August 2011. In hindsight, nothing much changed because of that.


Cousin informs Rat, “We’ll make more Swiss cheese, you know with bigger air pockets, the proverbial where less is more syndrome, just to be safe.”
