this is SOOOO government! tell farmers what to plant on their land, and none of them has ever had even a garden. Advising farmers to plant something that does not grow there, pay them for it, and then insurance has to pay for the misharvest.
Their nest protecting behavior in spring isn’t quite compatible with modern urban life, yes.
To their credit, our local crows seem to have learned to recognize me — I haven’t been attacked for more than five years despite often wearing dark clothes.
I've read about crows or ravens that take a dislike to a particular person, possibly from some event they took offense to, and they harass that person for months.
Attacked? oh my I had no idea. There are crows flying over all the time, calling, and I call back LOL. I have no idea where they live. I heard they are pretty smart though.
It only tends to happen for a short time in spring and close to their nests. A crow couple takes turns nosediving at you, stopping 5…10 feet from your head, yelling at the top of their lungs. It can be quite scary, but I haven’t heard of anyone being actually pecked at.

Crows ARE considered a 'nuisance' bird.

They also recognize friends.

Mockingbirds haven’t gotten the memo, they go full ninja!
LOOOOL!!!
I love it when Crow shows up. What a jerk he is!
To be fair, nearly everyone in the Rats’ universe is a cynical asshole at times — except Cousin, who is usually a naïve idealist.
I have had "friends" like Crow. Not fun!
Crow needs to show a little respect... 😁
