this is not a new idea. The likes of Von Daniken came up with ideas like that in the 60s and 70s. As usual the science TM first ridiculed them, like Wegener's theory of drifting continents, then 'found' it and made it their own. And then they wonder why we don't believe them anymore
1. («ancient astronauts» – 1970s): «advanced civilizations have visited Earth in ancient times»; von Däniken is probably the best-known but it was started by some French guys in 60ies, plus influenced by earlier catastrophists like Velikovsky etc.
2. («ancient civilizations» – 1990s): «locally developed advanced civilizations have existed in ancient times»; Graham Hancock is the best-known but roots of this theory are much older.
3. («cryptoterrestrials» – 2010s): «they're still here!»; developed by Mac Tonnies around 2010. I guess drugs are becoming stronger over time...
yes ! I read the French Charroux, who teamed with a Romanian (forgot his name) and I devoured the books of Velikovsky! Never heard of Hancock. But recently a Russian tubed a bunch of old buildings that cannot be made anymore. In contrast he showed a column hacked out for a statue of Napoleon, which is lying there, it cannot be erected LOL. The most impressive were Indian water holes, with unbelievable staircases. (I think he goes by Vlad). Either humans have lost the ability to build this, or they had some help from ??? I read some of the modern books, one of them David Icke, but that is not my thing.
A personal theory is that many appeals to a higher power simply demonstrate lack of imagination. Creationists arguing for a creator because they can't imagine eyeballs evolving, or postulating aliens building pyramids, are two favorite examples.
Thor Heyerdahl enlisted native Easter islanders to show how the moai statues could be hacked out of lava using stone tools, moved by rolling on logs (before all the Island's trees were cut down), and raised by gradually levering and piling stones underneath. No matter what you might think of Heyerdahl, this exercise did demonstrate that normal people with simple technology could accomplish these tasks.
Ancient peoples were capable of much more than we like to give them credit for. Just look at the Nazca Plain designs, ancient Incan stonework, and the Mayan calendar.
LOL, now I wonder if you’ve ever come across Mess-Mend: Yankees in Petrograd by Marietta Shaginian (early small-c communist utopian fiction originally from 1924, the English edition is somewhat rare).
In that book, evil globalist-capitalist overlords, due to their degeneracy, are inclined to revert to walking on all four and have to be kept upright by hidden mechanical contraptions.

The theories have developed over time though.

and/or ancient peoples have had help too, at different times but by similar beings, with similar building styles.
I thought they were called Woke.. 😂😂😂

What if…”there’s more to this world than is dreamt of in your philospophy, Horatio”
Q: What's the difference between Brandon and a lizard?
A: One likes eating bugs, has a smooth brain and is slimy, the other walks on four legs.

Well, you know. Harvard. They say a lot of stuff.
There is a first one?
Likely yes, I’ve seen ball bearings made by it.
But there a natural equivalents - such as bacterial flagellum.
I'm exploring this exact subject with my Hidden Human theory: https://hiddenreality.substack.com/
