I watched the House Judicial Committee hearing yesterday about the Censorship Industrial Complex. In the entertaining portions of the show, two or three of the Democratic senators insisted on spending their five minutes complaining about the price of eggs (Trump's fault), and how focusing on free speech was a waste of time.
I live in a city, but there are many small farms in my state, most family-owned. A couple of grocery chains and some smaller stores carry their milk and eggs.

Indeed. A few days ago I bought a carton for 10+ $. I checked if they were may be gold dusted but no, they were just regular white eggs.
I know this is not the point here, but buying local helps, if you have that option. There tends to be less price gouging.
For sure. I'm lucky enough to have several neighbors with chickens.
