Ethical Gnawing
In which Rat knows what is important
NEVERMORE MEDIA writes about «ethical consumption»:
Rat has an opinion, too.
On a more serious note, competition matters – monopolies are much less likely to give a damn about consumer choices. Highly monopolized economies are also prone to shortages; not much «ethical consumption» was possible in the late Soviet Union where one would be happy to get at least something to consume.
And then there’s the question of scale and the costs of obtaining reliable information. It’s much easier to know which of your local farmers treats her cows better, than to ever know whether Coke or Pepsi source their ingredients better.
