On a side note, it appears we’ve now moved from recycling 1980ies Soviet jokes about gerontocracy to recycling 1990ies Russian jokes about economy. Times, they surely are changing.
I had a plot device which consisted of gerontocrats whose brains have been scooped out and replaced with "smart" phones running broken large language models. Reality beat me to it...
