That's so funny that I've used the term grammar Nazis for years, ever since the Oxford comma (which is redundant, right? the comma is shorthand for 'and' not in addition to it) and the single apostrophe vendetta. When something's not a quote but instead something that implies irony or not literal meaning, the single is cleaner. It's a waste of a perfectly good signifier to restrict it to quotes within quotes.
