Tried to buy Ukraine, but….

@Jimmy

Only managed to rent their government, and that at hourly rates.

Governor Trudeau tries to pretend that he hasn't already sold (the great state of) Canada. The buyers left him in charge as their idea of a practical joke.

Bought out by China, I take it.

They should be so lucky! But no, America has long since integrated Canada. They've even tapped the strategic maple syrup reserve. A few Hong Kong oligarchs do own a substantial percentage of Vancouver, but that's it.

I figured China, because of the communist you have running the country.

At least we get the Maple syrup. 😉😊😋

Yanno, I tried to come up with a clever answer, but nope - not a single one 😳😉

Was anyone expecting a good idea to come from that corner?

Please review the arrangements of the Danish Ambassador in Washington, DC, 1940.

Henrik Kauffmann.

He needed help from the USA,

So as his idea - the USA occupied Greenland in 1941 with the Danish King’s private approval, admittedly through channels.

Denmark having surrendered after a few hours of fighting.

Arrangements that were suspended in 1994.

And here we are again, but that’s democracy for you.

If only the Baltics had thought to grab an island or two in the Atlantic, 🎶🎵 what a safer bourgeois world it would be 🎵🎵

…but it’s not.

One just can’t outsource all the costs, socialize risks but privatize the safety… oh dear.

Merry Christmas.

We did: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Curonian_colonization_of_the_Americas :)

Unfortunately it wasn't sustainable.

Merry Christmas!

🇹🇹 Tobago.

🤔

You want it?

I had a look at present day.

You sure?

😂

No, not now :D

There are some islands in the world uninhabited for the lack of fresh water, which can easily be solved with modern technologies. If I had a couple billion to spare, I’d probably try to buy Santa Luzia from Cape Verde. It’s a nature reserve but I think I could coexist with those turtles. :)

Yes but admittedly it’s a fixer upper and ah er needs “cleaning” but Detroit has great potential

the long warred's avatar

How about Detroit?

With the right, ah, er, management that Bridge alone is $1B every 2 days in trade.

We should not have let the Vikings take it back. In all fairness they could vote on it but Denmark should have had some dadgum manners and said , " no we gave it to you no give backs" and been done with it. It's fucking ours. 🤣🤣
