The black pill is sometimes called «depressive realism». It can be treated—with enthusiastically promoted drugs that will make everything worse. If I recall correctly, some of the drugs mix very badly with cheese. The combo can kill you.

My theory here is doubt of one's own judgment is at least a contributing factor; if you see that things aren't well but everyone keeps telling you everything is OK, it's easy to start doubting your own sanity. Therefore, at least some blackpill is necessary.

It's called gaslighting and ignorance is bliss. They don't make a drug that can make you see things as how they want you to instead of how they actually are. They want you to be who they say you are not who you actually are. Therapy is paying someone to be your friend so at the end you feel better about realizing what suits people and thereby they are members of the demoralization economy and scammers. It's fine here's a pill. No thanks I've swallowed the black pill. You all suck peace. I now realize we're doomed, I'll wait out the apocalypse quietly and stop pointing out the lies though.

Well, Rat, as therapists, our job is to help people see their reality.

Doesn't that make you «dangerous extremists»?

Lois Thomson Bowersock's avatar

Rat, that would depend on what the person's reality of a "dangerous extremist" is. Do you want to talk about it? I can schedule an appointment for you.

Heaven forbid! who would talk to the rats if I suddenly had things explained to me? :)

It’s obvious. I would talk to the rats. I’d be the rat therapist.
