I vaguely feel Rat might have said something along these lines before, but can't find it. At 1073 published posts, it's getting hard to keep track.

This is a reminder to give your utility guy some love, he's the one keeping your power on, the gas flowing, and the water pumping - not to mention all the truckers out there bringing everything to your doorstep. A tip-o-the-hat to them all.

Bad weather has become the go-to mechanism for scaring people into staying tuned to the tv news weather babes, dressed to kill in skin tight cocktail dresses to enhance the presentation of world-ending weather doom. Emphasis always on the super scary “feels like” ice age temperatures, caused by global warming.

I blame the rise of the Weather Channel in 1982, and I don't think it had anything to do with the current climate panic. They had to figure out some way to fill all those hours.

What's really frustrating is watching the local news morning show, and they'll show everything BUT the weather!

As a side note, its currently 74° in Patagonia Fresh; San Bernadino, Chile!

Rat, I beg to differ, bad things do happen daily but weather on the front page often leads to the end of the world because I love driving my truck.

Lots of snow on the ground today. Long Island, NY, USA edition of that newspaper reported the truth for once.
