Writing
In which Cousin has doubts
Good time of day, humans!
We have an extra long weekend due to summer solstice and all that, thus Human has more work than usual. Meanwhile, Rats are left to their own devices and try their paw in human endeavors.
Transcript:
Cousin: — Writing fiction is so hard.
Rat: — Perhaps it’s easier if you can base the main character on yourself.
Cousin: — I don’t think so. Out of millions of humans, only Dostoevsky succeeded in writing «The Idiot».
Cousin is probably mistaken here. Neither is the name of the novel to be taken literally, nor is Prince Myshkin an autobiographic character. For that, he should have turned to The Gambler instead.

Awwww... Cousin needs a self-esteem retreat, bless his heart. He has a simple, gentle wisdom, and many fans on the Substacks 😁
OMG, you and Cousin are Dostoevsky aficionados. You and Cousin RULE. A million swamis. Make that a billion. I worship Dostoevsky.
