There has indeed been a slow-burning debate about Etruscan numerals going on for quite some time:

…although the role of lawyers in the issue is not known.
I however suspect they might have had a paw in it. Activist courts around the world have been redefining words all the time, why would numerals be immune?
Lawyers are justly famous for their onto-epistemological flexibility and semantic gymnastics*. Acceptable results are available, starting at 500 major currency units per time portion.
*Mediocrity and treachery too!
