Lawyers are justly famous for their onto-epistemological flexibility and semantic gymnastics*. Acceptable results are available, starting at 500 major currency units per time portion.

*Mediocrity and treachery too!

I believe the major currency unit at the time was still so-called «oxhide ingot» (a talent of copper). Perhaps gold/silver coinage was invented to reduce inconvenience when receiving outrageous retainers.

The gold in particular makes it easier to carry wealth to a new jurisdiction when the promised results are neither available nor acceptable.

On first reading I thought this was going to be some sort of commentary about IV and VI.

However, I guess the Etruscans did it differently.

Creating a cloudy outcome is lawyer fare, four or six is best resolved in a crapshoot at a casino.

Romans killed and took over the Estruscans and were their muscle before. They had a coup so it's defacto Roman numerals. 😂
