people complain about the cost of groceries but don't mind spending 200 bucks on a box of dangerous explosives that every year cause hand and eye damage. I know one person who lost a hand, and several who had burns. Once while looking in a park, a burning particle ruined my new blouse.

LOL, I know, people here are fond of it. I think mostly about the dangers though, people have children running around while firing shots, brr. The ones I saw were community-given, and seeing the cost (this is 40+ years ago) I cringed, because the community said there was no money for this and that... then blew 100 000 in the air in 20 minutes !

PS and invented in China !

To this day most fireworks are made in China… hence the mention of «ocean shipping rates» influencing their prices.
