The apocalypse was delayed by the government shutdown. It did not receive funding under the continuing resolution, but enabling language was inserted in the NDAA. It will be slow-walked out with bipartisan congressional support and financed with long term treasury bonds.
This is how some religious group has lost a lot of its credibility. Just like the safe and effective believers, quite a few still hang on to it though... against better judgement.
