Streets
In which Rat advises inaction
Good time of day, humans!
Tuning in to local news again…
No street, no problem.
Street renaming happens all around the world these days. In the US, they’re renaming anything that sounds Confederate, in Eastern Europe – anything that sounds Russian, and in Western Europe some people think street names are not inclusive because not enough streets are named after women. No, seriously. (I’d say too many streets are named after men; after all, almost all of those men had homes and none actually lived on those streets. I’m not aware of any streets named after homeless people. But well, that’s me.)
What’s behind this is that local municipalities don’t have that much power over things that matter anymore. They can do nothing about war, nothing about inflation, and even power over education is sliding out of their hands. Renaming things is their chance to get noticed and Do Something™ that will stay permanently until the next change of political fashion.
Sorry about the rant. A street nearby is getting renamed.

I think it's a great idea to name a street after Rat.
Rat Street. Rodent Avenue. Raton Blvd. Rat Cousin Freeway Dos Rats Drive Rodent Crescent... the possibilities are endless.
I don’t suppose we’ll ever see a street named after you Rat, and that’s a shame.
