Of course we are spending like crazy ! We now spend more than double the amount of money for the same products as 3 years ago.

Fear makes people buy stuff to make themselves feel better....

and the prices have sky- rocketed, wich, if they do it right is no surprise. A burger, fries and a soda for $3-4 id just not feasable when done right and without a ton of chemicals..

I'm not sure where this thinking of "wanting everything for nothing" came from but good things like food and beverages if done right, will have a price, there just is no way around that.

China- shit is so cheap because they enslave children and so forth..

it has led to a society of wastefulness and unappreciation.

We have lost touch with reality, there are kids that do not know that milk comes from cows, they have no clue what it takes to take proper care of an animal or the cost.

Talk about cheese... Parmiggiano Reggiano takes years to make and ripen, it is an art and if you find it for a dollar ninety- nine it is compromised in one way or another.

We need to re- think our consumerism and get back to reality and the basics.

Excellent comment! Although I think a soda without a ton of chemicals is an oxymoron...

Typical case of: "The truth will set us free. But first it will make us miserable"

Let's hope that we have become miserable enough!!!

Could not agree more! We need a serious change!

Ha! It felt good to just read your comment.

It will be a huge and uncomfortable undertaking, that's why so many people rather go into denial... change is difficult often painful and it starts within.. it's much easier to eat another twinky or buy another purse...

Might as well spend it while there is still *some* value attached to it.

Besides, one must have cheese.

It’s hard to restrain oneself when all math, facts, research, history, logic and observation scream that restraint is folly. Especially when it’s valuable and durable goods, or food, etc.

Now when I splurge on water barrels, tools, food, ammo I hardly think I’m dropping money on strippers and booze….

… and yes I know the difference…

😂

WHERE DO I GO TO MAKE PAID SUBSCRIPTION?

Rat's avatar

In your browser, you should see a dark green 'Upgrade to paid' button near the top right corner.

Not sure about the app, I'm not using it myself.

LeeAnn Young's avatar

I read Substack on the App. I think all the writers on Substack need to understand that we cannot change subscription on App. My guess is it affects how many readers will upgrade to Paid. If you only read on App, then you should be able to manage subscription on App.

Two people said changing to a paid subscription in the app is possible.

Big orange button that says simply 'Upgrade':

I went to the link. It goes to Substack website not App. Maybe that’s the only way but authors should ask Substack to make it possible to upgrade subscription on app. They might get more paid subscribers—maybe?

thank you!

Yes, the link is to Notes, where some helpful soul posted a screenshot of how it looks in their app.

I’m now convinced upgrading on the app is possible after all; even if that orange ‘Upgrade’ button continues to evade you, there is always the option of unsubscribing and subscribing anew.

I’ll ask around on Notes. This is a basic function, so someone must know if this function is really absent or where it’s hiding if not.

Let's go with the fact that fiat money's value is evaporating like the lakes that rely on the Columbian River. Those who mastered the scheme know it buys less as the system churns and vice versa. Although this time round hyperinflation may hit the US with the likes of Venezuela.

If only there were another scheme as fruitful as fiat currency... surely Biden is consulting Nixon for some good ol enshitifuckcation strategies and it probably rhymes with a CBDC.

"We'll never even know what hit us".

They are most likely right.
