Do you know how people say that Santa Claus is not real, it's just a bunch of worthless pranksters abusing your innocence and good will?

Likewise, Politics is not real for the same reason.

Belief in Santa costs parents a little; belief in politics costs everyone a lot.

Same happens with the belief in the Germ theory of disease, and many other weird 1800s ideas and propagandas that control the lives of most people.

Both terrain and germ theories have some merit to them, the problem is humans not being able to distinguish between necessary and sufficient causes, and wanting to find exactly one cause for everything — preferably a cause that can be blamed.

A week or so ago I heard someone complaining that “she came sick to work, and now half of us fell sick”; he never asked why the other half didn’t.

Repeated exposure to the voting process provides an immune response equally effective as the covid jabs. It doesn’t keep you from getting violently ill no matter how many times you try another one. No one approves of this message.
